Coronavirus Information for Researchers
General Guidance for Researchers
The UO research enterprise is operating under State executive orders for higher education and is implementing a Staged Approach to Restarting Research Activity (see below).
Our overarching goals are to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff while increasing research activity in a staged approach as public health guidance and safety conditions permit. Recovery will be a long-term transition with a restart process that is scaled gradually and aligned with public health conditions.
UO phase 0 permits limited essential maintenance activities; UO phase 0.5 expands to essential limited research activities for research on-campus and in the field; UO stages 1-1B permit expanded access to on-campus research and limited face-to-face human subjects research. UO stage 2 permits extended close contact activities in circumstances where such interaction is necessary to conduct research activities that cannot otherwise occur under UO stage 1 allowances.
Faculty, staff, and students engaged in UO phase 0: Limited Essential Maintenance Activities are required to complete the OVPRI on-campus research form prior to any campus visits. Faculty seeking to pursue UO phase 0.5, UO stage 1, UO stage 1A, or UO stage 1B must complete Research Recovery Plans and obtain approval. Details are provided on our website and in the FAQs for Research Recovery below.
- Please use the primary UO inquiry form if you have further questions or email ResearchIMT@uoregon.edu.
- Visit the UO COVID-19 website for up-to-date information on the university’s response to the outbreak.
A Phased Approach for Restarting Research Activity
We have developed a framework for a phased approach to restart research activity and a path forward that ensures the safety, health, and well-being of our research enterprise.
