Research Compliance Services received notice from the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and 15 other federal departments and agencies have announced an Interim Final Rule (IFR) that delays the revised “Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects” (also known as the Common Rule) which was scheduled to go into effect January 19, 2018. The IFR delays the effective date and general compliance date of the revisions to the Common Rule to July 19, 2018. For the full text of the federal register notice, click here.
Until July 19, 2018, institutions are required to comply with the pre-2018 Common Rule. RCS has reviewed our most recently developed and issued materials to ensure only those that continue to comply with the pre-2018 Common Rule are available to the research community.
Research Compliance Services will continue to keep the research community informed through our dedicated Revised Common Rule website. Please feel free to contact RCS with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or (541) 346-2510.
