The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) promotes excellence in research at the University of Oregon. Research, both basic and applied, is fundamental to the mission of the University and is essential to Oregon’s economic and civic vitality. The office is committed to enhancing these efforts by providing administrative and financial support for sponsored programs, including identification of funding opportunities, proposal submission, research compliance, and contracts and grant administration.
The office supports interdisciplinary research centers and essential core facilities and emboldens innovation and economic development through strategic partnering and technology transfer initiatives. The UO has a long tradition of interdisciplinary research that continues through the production of new knowledge and innovative solutions to society’s grand challenges.
Research & Innovation Services
The Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation supports research at the University of Oregon through four service units. Collectively known as Research & Innovation Services, they help UO faculty, staff and students with all stages of the research process: funding identification, proposal development and submission, award management, compliance, intellectual property management, commercialization, and more.
Research Development Services provides a variety of services for faculty seeking support for research, performance, public service and scholarly projects.
Sponsored Projects Services works with the UO community to provide proposal budget preparation, institutional clearances and grant and contract administration.
Research Compliance Services supports the UO community and the rights/welfare of participants in human research through regulatory compliance/best practices.
Innovation Partnership Services works with UO innovators, the public, and industry to accelerate the adoption of innovations derived from UO research and education.
Strategic Initiatives, Research and Innovation (SIRI) leads and coordinates private giving efforts in support of central priorities.
The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program provides resources and services in support of faculty-mentored undergraduate research and creative scholarship.
